Playlist #2 High School Musical

What better way to take you back to school then to listen to some school inspired tunes? Here’s my TOP 10 school inspired playlist to bring out your inner school kid and to help you reminisce about your school days! Whether you loved school or just wanted to grow up and get out of school *shifty eyes*, I guarantee life was just not the same without it. Sing along!

The Beach Boys – Be true to your school
So be true to your school now
Just like you would to your girl or guy
Be true to your school now
And let your colors fly
Be true to your school
(What better way to deal with the blues than with a good Beach Boys track?)

Paul Simon- Me and Julio down by the School Yard

Well I’m on my way, I don’t know where I’m going
I’m on my way, I’m taking my time, but I don’t know where
Goodbye to Rosie, the queen of Corona
Seein’, me and Julio down by the schoolyard
(Featured in the film, “The Royal Tenenbaums” which is one of my favourite movies!)

Alice Cooper- School’s Out
No more pencils no more books
No more teacher’s dirty looks yeah
Well we got no class
And we got no principals
(Rock Legend!)

Vitamin C – Graduation
As we go on, we remember. All the times we had together. And as our lives change, Come whatever. We will still be, friends forever. As we go on, we remember. All the times we had together. And as our lives change, Come whatever. We will still be, friends forever.
(For some of us, our friends were the sole reason we went to school, myself included. Sang this at my high school farewell and still don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed about it so that’s a proven winner in my book)

The Jackson 5- ABC

Oh, A B C
It’s easy as 1 2 3
As simple as, do re mi
A B C, 1 2 3
Baby, you and me girl
A B C it’s easy
(Its easy as 123, How adorable is Michael?)

Wheatus- Teenage Dirtbag
Cause I’m just a teenage dirtbag baby
I’m just a teenage dirtbag baby
Listen to Iron Maiden baby with me
(Ahhh *internal screaming like the teenage fangirl that I am*)

Working Class Hero– John Lennon
As soon as you’re born they make you feel small
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
A working class hero is something to be
(The Beatles got me through both board exams and generally helps me through life as well, love this track!)

Family of the year –Hero
Let me go
I don’t wanna be your hero
I don’t wanna be a big man
Just wanna fight with everyone else

Your masquerade
I don’t wanna be a part of your parade
Everyone deserves a chance to
Walk with everyone else
(Its another song with the title ‘Hero’ in it but I listened to this song on repeat every day before my board exams and it generally helped me with the pressures of being a student and the expectations that go along with it, the chorus will have you singing along, no doubt about it!)

Grease -Summer Nights
(An old one but still a good one, Sandy and Danny were my OTP)

And lastly, Bryan Adams- Summer of ’69

(Played at every Goan wedding, this song makes everyone’s day simply because of how legendary it is! We love you, Bryan!)
